Krogstad Polled Herefords

We run a third generation operation of about 100 cows, all polled and all registered. Calving season is mid-February through April. Steer calves are marketed in January through Bagley Livestock Exchange on their special Hereford influence feeder sale. Open heifers, bred heifers and the very top cut of bulls are sold on the farm by private treaty. We also consign to the Go-pher the Purple select sale at Hutchinson in December.

Cows are culled hard for udder quality, fertility, feet, prolapse and performance. Herd bulls and A.I. sires are selected for low birth, growth, maternal traits and eye pigment. Complete performance records including birth weight, weaning weight, yearling weight, hip height, scrotal circumference and ultrasound carcass data are collected on the calves.

We aren't into show cattle but rather strive to produce "real- world" efficient, top performing useful cattle.

Visitors are always welcome to look over the cattle.
